Copper(II) sulfate is a transparent dark blue crystal or powder in physical and chemical properties. Its solubility in 0 ºC water is 316g/L, which is insoluble in ethanol and almost insoluble in most other organic solvents. It is gem green in glycerin, slowly weathered in the air, lost two molecules of Water of crystallization (30 ºC) when heated, and became white hydrate (CuS04 . H20) when lost at 110 ºC. When it contains a lot of impurities, it appears yellow or green and has no odor. This product has strong corrosiveness to iron. Copper(II) sulfate is not only a fertilizer, but also a widely used fungicide. Bordeaux mixture, copper soap liquid and copper ammonium preparation are made of Copper(II) sulfate, quicklime, soap and Ammonium bicarbonate. | ||
