Description: Depending on the processing method, many soy foods contain relatively high levels of compounds called isoflavones, which have weaker estrogen-like effects. Under conditions of high estrogen exposure, which may promote certain cancers, isoflavone compounds tend to block the adverse effects of estrogen and may prevent the growth of cancer cells. In cases of low estrogen exposure, such as during menopause, isoflavones tend to act as weak estrogen, which may be enough to help relieve some of the symptoms associated with menopause, such as hot flashes, headaches, and mood swings. As a high-quality protein source, soy protein powder provides an excellent amino acid profile and provides additional health benefits for furnace, cancer protection, bone maintenance, and relief of menopausal symptoms in postmenopausal women. For women who cannot or choose not to opt for postmenopausal hormone replacement therapy, isoflavone supplements can provide an effective alternative for treating some of the symptoms associated with menopause, including hot flashes, night sweats, headaches, vaginal dryness, and mood swings. |
